In 2023 the Vale do Lobo Matchplay Championship will be celebrating its 27th year

How does the tournament work?

  • Two separate competitions, Betterball pairs and an Individual competition
  • Play starts first week in June
  • The draw is made on a regional basis to minimise travelling
  • Matches are played at home or opponent’s course – many courses offer courtesy
  • Up to four knockout matches played between June and end of September
  • Winners of four matches qualify for one of the regional finals in October
  • Leading pairs and individuals at regional finals qualify for the Grand Final January 4th - 8th, 2024

Grand Final Vale do Lobo, Algarve, Portugal January 4 – 8 January 2024

At least 40 golfers will win the fantastic prize of a place at the Grand Final including:

  • 4 nights / single room in the luxury apartments at Vale do Lobo
  • Practice round & three competitive rounds on the Royal Course and the Ocean Course
  • £150 contribution per competitor towards return flights from UK to Faro
  • Tournament logo’d polo shirt
  • Welcome drinks party and presentation dinner
  • Fantastic prizes of golf equipment & apparel
  • National title – Betterball & Individual Champions
  • Serious fun to be had by all

  • Betterball - £60 per pair / Singles - £30 per player
